Lissa McCombe is a prominent animal welfare advocate in The Bahamas and serves as the Vice President of the Bahamas Alliance for Animal Rights and Kindness (BAARK!). She co-founded BAARK! with the aim of reducing the homeless animal population and promoting responsible pet ownership through spay and neuter programs, education, and outreach activities.
Under her leadership, BAARK! has organized numerous initiatives, including the “Trap-Neuter-Return” (TNR) program, which focuses on trapping stray animals, spaying/neutering them, and then releasing them back into their habitat. This approach helps in controlling the stray animal population humanely and has led to over 5,000 sterilizations in 2024 alone. The organization also partners with other entities, such as the New Providence Ecology Park (NPEP), to provide safe homes for stray animals and improve animal welfare throughout The Bahamas.
Lissa McCombe is married to Ryan Pinder, the current Attorney General of The Bahamas and a strong animal advocate himself. Her efforts with BAARK! have made a significant impact on the community, transforming the culture surrounding animal care and welfare in the country.
Impressive leader in this space!!
